The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter meets eight times each year, beginning with our planning meeting in August through May. There are typically no chapter meetings in January, February, June, and July. Our meetings are held at the Shelton Community Center on the third Saturday of the month. Meetings may be held at other locations to celebrate special occasions.
For more information on any of these meetings, please contact the Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Registrar.
We also have a Constitution minute, where we highlight important facts about the Constitution of the United States; an American Indian minute denoting the importance of American Indians in our general history and culture; a Flag of the United States minute to promote a deep patriotic sense of respect for our flag and a Women’s Issues minute that focuses on issues concerning women today in the United States. In preparation for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, our chapter has a Patriot minute, during which we highlight the story of one of our Revolutionary War patriots. Programs are often planned for our meetings.
Members recite the Pledge of Allegiance, the Preamble to the Constitution, and the American’s Creed at chapter meetings.
