The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter meets eight times a year, beginning in August through May. There are no chapter meetings in January, February, June, and July. Our meetings are held on the third Saturday of the month, at local area libraries or historical societies (check with us if you’re visiting!).
Members recite the Pledge of Allegiance, the Preamble to the Constitution, and the American’s Creed as part of our opening ritual.
We feature –
- a Constitution moment – fast facts about our nation’s Constitution
- a Conservation moment – on ways to steward the environment
- an American Indian moment – the impact of American Indians in our history and culture
- a Flag of the United States moment – promote a deep, patriotic respect for our flag
- a Celebrate Daughters moment – on issues concerning women today in the United States.
In celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, our chapter has a Patriot moment, during which we highlight the story of one of our Revolutionary War patriots. Engaging programs usually follow the business portion of our meetings!
